Why should you make pork chops in an air fryer?

An air fryer is easy to use and offers convenience at many levels. Here is why you should make pork chops in an air fryer:

  • The air fryer uses hot air to make the pork chop crispy outside and juicy inside.
  • You get the tasty crunch of fried pork chops with less oil and fewer calories.
  • The air fryer cooks evenly, so there are no drier pork chops.
  • It’s a healthier way to enjoy your favorite dish.

Tips to Remember

To ensure pork chops are delicious and juicy, keep these simple points in mind:

  • Choose pork chops around 1 inch thick for uniform cooking and a succulent center. If you are opting for a thicker cut, it will require more time to cook. A thinner cut will take less time to cook.
  • Stay generous, whether you’re using a basic seasoning or a saucy marinade. It will ensure thorough flavor infusion.
  • Make sure the pork chops don’t overlap with each other. Otherwise, they will not cook properly.
  • If you are not a pro at cooking pork chops, rely on a kitchen thermometer. Aim for an internal temperature of 145°F.
  • Always rest the cooked pork chops to ensure maximum flavor and juiciness.
  • Add Italian seasoning, paprika, and garlic powder to all-purpose flour for more added flavors. You can also use seasoned breadcrumbs for more flavor.
  • Feel free to customize seasonings and spices according to your liking.

Variation Ideas

The versatility of pork chops in an air fryer is boundless. Here are some innovative twists you can try:

  • Herb-infused: Marinate the pork chops in rosemary, thyme, and garlic for an aromatic delight.
  • Spicy kick: Add chili flakes or cayenne pepper to the seasoning for those who like it hot.
  • Tropical twist: Glaze the pork chops with pineapple or mango salsa for a sweet and tangy variation.
  • Cheese crust: Before air frying, coat the pork chops with a mix of breadcrumbs and parmesan for a cheesy crust.
  • Asian-inspired: Use soy sauce, ginger, and honey marinade for an Asian flair.

What to serve with air-fried pork chops?

Pork chops are wonderfully adaptable. They are versatile and pair well with several sides. Here are some ideas for you to try:

  • Mashed potatoes: Silky, rich mashed potatoes are a timeless companion, offering a soothing contrast to the pork’s crispiness. You can, however, serve these air-fried chops with baked potatoes as well.
  • Green beans: Green beans add color and a very satisfying crunch to these pork chops.
  • Fresh slaw: A zesty slaw can provide a crisp, refreshing counterpoint to the pork’s richness.
  • Honeyed cornbread: The subtle sweetness of cornbread can harmonize wonderfully with savory pork.
  • Grilled/roasted veggies: Consider options like zucchini, bell peppers, or cherry tomatoes. Grilled or roasted to perfection, they add taste and nutrition to your meal.

Can you make air-fried pork chops in advance?

Absolutely! Making air-fried pork chops in advance can be a real time-saver, especially when planning a busy day or hosting a gathering. Here’s a detailed breakdown of how to do it:

  • Start by seasoning your pork chops.
  • Once marinated, air fry the pork chops, but reduce the cooking time by a couple of minutes. This ensures they don’t overcook when you reheat them later. After air frying, let them cool to room temperature.
  • Place the cooled pork chops in an airtight container or a zip-top bag, ensuring they are flat and not stacked on each other. Store them in the refrigerator if you plan to eat them within the next 1-2 days. For longer storage, consider freezing them.
  • You can reheat the pork chops in the air fryer when ready to serve. Set the air fryer to a medium temperature and cook for a few minutes until they’re heated through. If frozen, it’s best to thaw them in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
